Favourite Foundation….

Its hard to find a foundation that ticks all the boxes and it is a real process to find the perfect colour. But I think I have found my ultimate foundation and I have to share it with the world. Now full disclaimer I am aware of how expensive it is so I will share my alternative that is more affordable.

No surprise but Pat McGrath is my ultimate foundation as I am fully obsessed with the brand. But hands down it is the best foundation I have ever tried. Now at an eye watering £60 the Sublime Perfection Foundation is on the pricer side however the finish you get with it is incredible. I also like the fact that I was able to find a shade that is a perfect match as normally when you get to my skin tone in shade range they tend to have yellow undertones where as I am more neutral. But when you have a shade range of 36 colours with different undertones its a lot easier to find the perfect match.

The thing about this foundation is that it is extremely lightweight and doesn’t feel heavy but it is still buildable to give you a good medium coverage. I think as well with my updated skincare routine that my skin is a lot better in terms of texture and less dry which means I no longer need that full coverage foundation to hide all the flaws. I think because of the formula I actually don’t have to use as much foundation as I would before so where I used to buy a new foundation every 3 months this lasts twice as long so you are getting your money’s worth. I do think that within your makeup bag there are things that you don’t need to spend that much money but I think a foundation is something to invest in.

Now my second favourite foundation is the Nars Radiant Longwear Foundation which is still an investment at £35. The reason why I like this one so much is that it has durability and last the whole day without touch ups. This one you can build up to full coverage but its still breathable so does not feeling heavy on the skin. They also have a great range with 34 shades which makes it easy to find the perfect one for you.

Another foundation that is on my go to list but is the Hourglass Seamless Finish Liquid Foundation. Now I know it is not cheap at £51 however the finish you get with this is incredible. Plus this is a foundation that you don’t need to wear a primer with so you think how much you would spend on primer you have a 2 in 1 product. This one I always take on holiday because the formula is waterproof and transfer proof so its great if you are in a hot country as it stays put. But its also great if you want something that is long lasting but not heavy feeling.

Now if you are on a budget and just need a basic foundation The Ordinary do a great Serum Foundation which is a bargain at £5.70. The only issue that the shade range is limited and if your skin tone is on the darker end of the spectrum then you are probably not going to be able to find anything but if you are at the other end then you might be in luck.

If you are looking to purchase a new foundation online I’ve found a great tool to use which shows you what colour you would be based on your current foundation. So check out Findation.com to see what shade you would be.
