Salicylic Acid is a must if you suffer from breakouts and acne as the benefits of using it is that it exfoliates, unclogs pores and has antibacterial properties which is perfect for busting a breakout. It also works great on blackheads and whiteheads too. I would say when using Salicylic Acid is to monitor your skin when using as it can cause dryness and it might be worth starting off with a lower concentration first and working your way up if you do have sensitive skin. I would say that it is super important to make sure you use SPF when using this product and don’t use if you are planing to be in the sun.

You can a lot of brands sell Salicylic Acid and its quite affordable to introduce into your routine as a bottle is going to last you a long time as you only use a couple of drops. I also don’t use it everyday and only when I need to tackle blemishes or blackheads so a bottle will actually last me 10-12 months. I am currently using the Ordinary Salicylic Acid 2% Solution which has worked really well for me and is only £4.20 for 30ml. However Deciem who is the company that makes the Ordinary products is updating the formula so will be interesting to see the new and improved version. So here are a few alternatives to the Ordinary:

Boots Ingredients – Salicylic Acid Serum 30ml – £7. This is a great alternative to the Ordinary and because it is in a serum form it will probably be less drying and a bit more hydrating.

Nip+Fab Salicylic Acid Extreme Booster 30ml – £19.95. This is another alternative with multiuser properties as it also contains Niacinamide which helps improves uneven skin tones and Lotus Flower Extract which supports the control of oil productions.

Garden of Wisdom Salicylic Acid 2% Serum 30ml – £10. A great mid price point brand which actually has a great range of products at the same price point.
