Winter is Coming…

Well it has been a hot minute since I have had an opportunity to sit down and just write so now I am back at it and have some cool events coming up to blog about. But to start of with I am having a relook at my skincare and with the winter months approaching a quick update is in order to keep my skin feeling fresh and looking hydrated in a season of harsh weather and central heating.

My first thing that I want to look at in my routine is a face mask. I am very bad for setting a side time to just relax. However using the right face mask even if it is just once a week is a great way to pack essential oils and nutrients back into your skin than can by lost during the colder months. Take your time and really identify what your skin really needs. It might be a case that 1 product doesn’t fit all your needs and that you will maybe have to set aside 2 nights per week or interchange ever other week to use different masks.

At the moment I am using 2 different mask which are really helping my skin stay hydrated and also helping to exfoliate my skin in a non abrasive way. So my first hero product that I have been using for quite a while now is the Rodial Dragon’s Blood Hyaluronic Mask. This has been a staple in my routine and its a keeper. The bonus of this product is that you can pop a thin layer of it on before you go to bed and just let it absorb into your skin. You don’t have to worry about how long you keep it on or having to wash it off. I normally cleanse my skin in the evening and pop a layer on. Normally this absorbs in about 30 minutes and then I just complete my evening routine. I wake up after doing this mask and my skin feels hydrated and any redness is reduced down. The active ingredient in this mask comes the Croton Lechleri Tree which is known to reduce redness and inflammation. The only downside is that it is on the more expensive side costing £45 for 50ml however you only use a small amount so it is a product that does last and is worth while especially during the winter months.

The second mask in my routine is the Elemis Papaya Enzyme Peel. I love this one because it works as an amazing exfoliator. So it will gently remove all that dry dull skin in a non abrasive way to uncover a new fresh layer of skin. It also has Vitamin E an Marine Algae in it so it really does help to repair and protect your skin. Especially in the winter months when you need a little bit of help with your skin. Again this is an investment product as it is £35 for 50ml but you would only use it once or twice a week so it is something that you may only have to buy every couple of months.
