Spotlight on Hourglass…

So I recently visited Liberty London as I had a spare hour and what is better than exploring the most amazing department store ever. As per usual the Beauty hall is the first place I like to explore. I say it time and time again but Liberty just know how to make your shopping experience world-class,  with a great mix of brands and level of service second to none.

As I’m exploring this grand room I decided to go back to the Hourglass counter as I had bought a lip treatment oil back last year that was amazing in the winter months so I was intrigued to try out a few more products from the brand as I always hear about them in magazines and on the beauty blogs.

So as I approached the counter the makeup artist for the brand were so warm and inviting luring me into to try some new goodies to inevitably add to my ever-growing collection. The first thing I was keen to try was there Vanish Seamless Finish Foundation Stick.

As a foundation I tend to you for a medium to full coverage and with this you can build it right out up to full with it still feeling very lightweight on. The unique formula gives you instant coverage and there was no need to use a concealer after as it was that good! So the key claims and benefits of this foundation are that is 12 hour Long-Wear, suitable for all skin types, satin finish. This foundation doesn’t have SPF in it but you can always use a primer that does to counteract that problem. Vanish also has the best shade range in their collection with 26 shades spread across Fair to Deep shades. Vanish Seamless Finish Foundation £42 (www.spacenk.com). Worth noting that yes it is on the more pricey side but you don’t need to buy a concealer when uses this so you are getting a great 2 in 1 deal.

Also good to note that a brush works so much better to blend in the foundation than a sponge and it is a lot quicker. The hourglass brush is really good as it is especially made for the Vanish foundation however at £42 it is rather pricy and you could probably use something very similar. Next on my try list was a lipstick. I have been looking for some more neutral colours as I have been using a lot of bold matte colours recently so I wanted to look for something a bit different to add to the collection. So the Confession Ultra Slim High Intensity Refillable Lipstick was the range I was instantly drawn to. The shade that I have gone for after much decisions is I’m Addicted (which I literally am). Once applied the lipstick feels very lightweight but the pigment is there with one swipe of the product. Again this is another product that does last throughout the day and I only reapplied once after eating. As the lipstick is slim you can line your lips with it first making it another 2 in 1 product eliminating the need for a lip liner if you desired. However I tried out Panoramic Longer Lipliner and it works fantastic with it. The colour that matches this lipstick is Eden. I also like that fact that the lipstick is refillable and the applicator is compact and sleek which is easy for travelling. Now the one product that I cannot wait to try is the Ambient Lighting Edit – Volume 3 palette. It really does look amazing with 6 shades in one compact palette that is all you need to finish, brighten, contour and highlight your skin. Looking at the swatches on different skin tones it really does compliment from fair to dark. The shade descriptions are as follows:

  • Ambient Lighting Powder – Dim Light
  • Ambient Lighting Powder – Diffused Light
  • Ambient Lighting Bronzer – Luminous Light
  • Ambient Lighting Blush – Surreal Halo
  • Ambient Lighting Blush – Pure Effect
  • Ambient Strobe Lighting Powder – Hypnotic Strobe Light

At £69 this is not a cheap product but the shades are amazing and if you are looking for a way to contour and highlight to make you look like you have that natural radiant glow this is the palette for you. (www.spacenk.com)

Overall I am very impressed with Hourglass products of what small selections that I have tried. The collection is very versatile and you can use products for multiuser. Yes the price is not cheap but the quality of the product speaks for itself. I definitely would recommend all the products I tried out. When I was trying on the makeup the artist there explain a bit about the brand and I think the main thing that I like about Hourglass is that they don’t use Parabens, Fragrances, Gluten, Sulphates to name a few… So it makes applying to sensitive skin a dream.
